The Hotel Regina Elena in Santa Margherita Ligure is in a paradise of nature, history, sea and culture.
Stay at our Hotel and set off to discover the numerous points of interest, activities and excursions, by sea and land, in the surroundings.
SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE AND ITS HISTORY
Santa Margherita Ligure, made up of the ancient seaside villages of Pescino and Corte, reunited by Napoleon under the name of Port Napoleon but still today divided by the sixteenth-century castle, is currently a tourist resort where seaside tourism activities coexist with history, culture and traditional activities.
A visit to the Park and Villa Durazzo, as well as the Baroque churches of Santa Margherita and San Giacomo di Corte or the Oratory of Sant’Erasmo with the traditional Ligurian processional crucifixes, can be alternated with the suggestive scene of the return to port of the fishing boats with the catch of the day or an aperitif on the seafront.
If you are an art enthusiast, in the hamlet of San Lorenzo della Costa stands an important Flemish triptych dated 1499 and in the nearby town of San Michele di Pagana you can find a crucifixion by Van Dyck.
PORTOFINO AND THE PARK
The municipality is located in the Gulf of Tigullio, a few kilometers from Santa Margherita Ligure, in a bay at the foot of the promontory of the same name.
Portofino is part of the Portofino Regional Natural Park. The Park, with more than 80 km of paths that wind through 1500 hectares of territory, is a true paradise for hiking lovers, thanks to its variety of routes with breathtaking views, suitable for both the most trained hikers and easy walking lovers.
CINQUE TERRE
About 45 km from Santa Margherita Ligure, there is one of the most characteristic coastal areas of the Levante Riviera: the Cinque Terre, described in poetry by some 20th century authors such as Eugenio Montale.
The famous Via dell’Amore, overlooking the sea, connects Riomaggiore and Manarola.
GENOVA AND THE AQUARIUM
Genova is about 30 km from Santa Margherita Ligure and it not only is the economic center of the region, but also an area of strong cultural interest.
- The Palazzo Ducale of Genoa, through hundreds of years of history experienced as a place of power of the Republic and residence of the Doges, after ten years of long structural restoration work, presents itself not only as a historic building, but also as a structure for cultural and social initiatives of the city and the territory.
- A fundamental stop during a trip to Genoa is Galata, the Maritime Museum and the Nazario Sauro submarine
- In the Porto Antico area of Genoa there is the famous Aquarium of Genoa, the second largest aquarium in the world, which houses numerous fish species from all continents. At the Hotel Regina Elena you can book your guided tour for a unique and unforgettable stay for the whole family!
